Dear Mequon-Thiensville Voters:
We may not have unseated four school board members; however, we are proud of what we accomplished over these past weeks and months. Parents, grandparents, and stakeholders tried to have their voices be heard for months to years—only to be shut down by our school board and administration.
Well, now, we hope we have their attention.
More than 40 percent of voters want change. That is significant and should be noted.
The nation watched a little town in southeastern Wisconsin stand up for children and for stakeholders by opposing the status quo and questioning the establishment.
With nearly 18,000 signatures from over 4,400 signers—we have made our collective voice heard. We will continue to stand up and speak up; we will not give up—this is too important for our kids and our community.
We look forward to a new perspective to solve the very significant problems within the district. Although we did not win by vote count, we recognize many other victories tonight.
First: We are proud of our community for paying attention and getting involved. More than 50% of our community voted in this election. We should all continue to be engaged.
Second: Many parents found one another through common frustrations. Some were fearful to speak up—fearful to disagree. As we have seen, it may not be popular to hold an opinion different from the status quo. Moving forward, we are united in our resolve. Due to this recall process, we hope everyone will recognize the opportunity for change and communication.
Third: We worked to expose some of the very important problems that the district will need to resolve. The decline is real by the district’s own measures. We seek to partner with our board and administrators to create solutions around transparency and trust.
While the campaign has ended, our work has just begun. We are invigorated by the support we received and are excited about the progress we made. We are on the same team here, so let’s continue fighting for our kids and for our community.
Sincerely,
Restore MTSD

Restore MTSD is a campaign dedicated to returning the Mequon-Thiensville School District to the premiere school district in Wisconsin. More than 4,400 residents signed the recall of four MTSD board members, desiring change in the district. We are dedicated to treating this call with urgency and bringing new leadership to the board through a non-partisan election.
RESTORE EXCELLENCE. Academic Excellence should drive a district’s metrics and priorities. Over the past six years, scores have declined and students have been left behind. Our campaign will ensure that Mequon’s academic rigor is restored and that every child succeeds.
RESTORE ENGAGEMENT. Parents and teachers are at the core of learning and deserve a voice in educational decisions. Our campaign will ensure that every stakeholder has a voice and is a part of the final product.
RESTORE TRUST. Our systems will work only if we believe that our leaders are capable of making tough decisions that lead to the best outcomes. This includes transparency, fiscal stewardship and responsiveness to concerns.
Four Mequon-Thiensville concerned and dedicated parents have stepped forward and have committed to running for school board. Find out more about our candidates.
